Hypnapod presented on a floating ferry pier on the Hobart (Tasmania, Australia) waterfront for Mona Foma, 15-21 January 2018.

4 suspended pods ommissioned by MONA and supported by the Australia Council for the Arts and Brooke Street Pier.

The pods were designed through a partnership with Dr Jenny Underwood from RMIT University Fashion and Textiles School, on a Japanese Shima Seiki machine, using a combination of rib and milano knit structures for maximum body contour and comfort.

Installed in an 8 metre tall space, the longest hanging Hypnapod to date, the additional height and square truss rigging, created a strong pendulum effect when pods were occupied, giving a physical as well as audible sense of synchronisation for audiences, as the pods begun to swing in unison.

Artists and designers: David Patman, Michelle Boyde, Matt Warren and Richie Cyngler and knit technician Dr Jenny Underwood.
